Rick saw in the newspaper that the Clarion Brass Ensemble was coming to Cordiner Hall this Christmas season and got tickets for us (minus Ashlyn) to attend the concert. Blake had been having a bad attitude about band the last couple of weeks, so Rick wanted him to see what playing an instrument involves beyond beginning band. He was all for going...until he found out it was in conjunction with the symphony which meant he had to dress up...then he had a bad attitude from the minute he walked out the door.
The concert was AMAZING! And as soon as it started Blake was sitting up in his seat with a smile on his face...until intermission when he had to keep playing up the bad attitude. This is the only group that exists in the country...trumpets, trombones, french horns, a tuba and a percussionist. One of the trumpet players in the creative coordinator for the group and writes all of their music. It was really fun all the different twists they put on traditional Christmas music...without having to listening to "other lame instruments" as Rick said...he hates orchestras. One of our favorite songs they actually had a YouTube video of...
We can't wait until next year when they come back...Blake is already fighting about having to dress up to go!
