Seattle Trip & Museum of Flight

Rick had a CE conference in the Seattle area last weekend, so we decided to make it a 3 day weekend and all go.
The kids and I did a lot of shopping while he was in class and took the time to finally learn how to make some of the rubber band bracelets while we were hanging out at the hotel.
It is kind of addicting making those stupid things!
I was sooo excited that we finally got the ladder one down...not so lucky to get the star one to work...even though we tried MANY times...that one is crazy hard!  Then of course we had to take the kids swimming each day...this is what they both did when they noticed I was going to take their pictures, little turkeys!
Then we took an afternoon to check out the Museum of Flight, something we wanted to do other times we were in Seattle this summer but ran out of time.  They had tons of various flight simulators.
It didn't matter if we were trying to fly an airplane or the space shuttle we all crashed...bad!
Ironically, Ashlyn was the closest to land successfully though.
We got to walk around on the first Air Force One...I made them walk down the stairs waving just like the President does when he gets off each time...they thought I was crazy, but humored me.  It is amazing how plain and basic the inside of the plane was compared to pictures we have seen of recent presidents on the current Air Force One.
This room had 45 planes displayed in it...most of which were hanging from the ceiling.
If you know me very well you can imagine how my stomach felt with all the weight hanging from that ceiling!
There were multiple fighter planes that the cockpits were open and we were allowed to climb in.  They were NOT comfortable at all!  The seats were hard plastic and there was very little wiggle room.
Then we went on the Blue Angels flight simulator ride and also watched a 3D movie on fighter pilot training that was awesome!

Next, Blake and I went on a fighter pilot simulator ride.  I was the pilot and Blake was my wing/gunman.  This thing was WAY too realistic!  They made you go through a training thing before you could do it, but as the guy said, "As soon as you take over the controls and turn yourself upside down on accident you are going to forget everything I just taught you."  Boy was he right!  I was focused on the little red dot our our radar screen to follow the enemy plane and telling Blake when to shoot the guns that I had no clue which way was up/down...needless to say we spent A LOT of that 5 minutes ride upside down!  It was sooo fun, even if we only shot one of the enemy planes down and crashed into the ocean...hopefully the Air Force never has to rely on us to defend our country.
Lastly, there was a room for Amelia Earhart and another on space exploration.  We were able to walk inside the fuselage of an old space shuttle and see various pieces of space memorabilia from our country's space program along with others like Russia.  This was the vehicle that they drove around on the moon...looked like a dune-buggy with a satellite attached to the front was all.  Crazy that this was all that they used to drive around on the moon!  They also had a piece of moon rock we could touch, so cool!  (Even though Ashlyn didn't see why we thought touching a dumb rock was that neat.)  I could go on an on about the different things we saw and did there...even though we were not able to go on the space shuttle simulator since Ashlyn was too short, darn it.  It was $25 a person so you HAVE to imagine it would've been pretty darn cool!  If you have a chance to check out the museum you certainly won't be disappointed!  We had such as fun weekend, it is always nice to get out of town for a few days.
