Work Christmas Party

Last night was the annual Christmas party out at the country club for Rick's office.  The kids have fun getting dressed up and going to the fancy party...partly because they serve them chicken nuggets and french fries instead of the foofy food the adults get, but mostly because Santa brings them a present off their Christmas list!
Ashlyn was pretty surprised that her name was the second one called out of all the kids to go up and sit on his lap to chat.
Blake was excited to sport his new Christmas tie he found shopping earlier in the day and was more than willing to chat with Santa.
Ashlyn ended up getting a Ross Lynch CD, which of course we jammed to all the way home, along with a $20 gift card to Claire's.  Blake ended up with the Nerf Cyber Hoop that he had seen advertised in his Kid Sports Illustrated magazine last month.  If you have boys you need to check this thing out!  He can't wait until his friend gets to open his on Christmas morning so they can link up with their iPods and have tournaments with each other in their own bedrooms.
Rick even got in on the Santa action this year!
The highlight of the evening for the adults is the door prizes that they raffle off each year...last year I won a sunglass case with speakers that you plug your iPod/phone into.  This year I was hoping for one of the Oakley luggage pieces or the Kindle Fire, however I was let in on a secret by his assistant Sarah at the beginning of the night that we would not be winning any of the raffle items because they bought him a piece of equipment that he has been bugging for and were going to make him think his number got called when they handle him the new gadget that was over $1,000.  It was pretty funny knowing ahead of time and that the ENTIRE staff knew ahead of time...his reaction when he opened it was pretty funny!

We are really blessed for Rick to come across this job here in Walla Walla.  They are a very family oriented practice with a great staff.  He really enjoys it and is thankful for the opportunity to work for them.  He even got a nice raise a few months ago so we hope to be here forever...who would've thought I would raise my kids in the same town my Dad was born and raised in!  I LOVE meeting the older people in town who knew my grandparents and hear the nice things they have to say about them.  We sure miss living on the beach in Georgia (especially this past week when our hi temperatures were in the low 20's) but we are grateful to be near family again, have a job that Rick really enjoys, be in an area with a large LDS population with a GREAT group of kids for our kids to be interact with...we hope to really make this home for the long haul...life is good!
