Yep ya guessed it, we're moving back to Oregon! Can ya believe it? Us either! The beginning of September Rick and I were chatting one day about kinda feeling homesick. We've been gone for a little over 6 years and where I've been home each year Rick has only been home 2 times. So we thought we should maybe start looking at what it would take to move back home. Blake overhead us talking and instantly was excited...however we told him that he needed to keep things under-wraps because it could take a couple of years to find the right job back home since they are VERY hard to come by in Oregon, let alone sell Rick's two Optometry practices. To make a long story short Rick found a job he was interested in Klamath Falls, Oregon and flew out the first weekend of October and felt it wasn't something we could pass up. He came home and began contract negotiations and was able to secure the job agreeing to be there December 1st. Since we found a job so quickly there was no way that we could even attempt to sell the practice so we made the decision to pack everything up and store it...taking over $4,000 in monthly office bills with us. Eesh!
The next week Rick met with lawyers and made phone calls to the Georgia licensing board trying to figure out how to shut the office down without any legal ramifications. The day after he got a phone call from a doctor who has an office in Brunswick and Kingsland who said he heard Rick was leaving and that he wanted to buy the office! Last week another doctor from Waycross called saying the same thing! We were prepared to pack everything up and take the financial hit thinking there was NO WAY possible to sell the office that quickly and within less than a week of letting the cat out of the bag we had TWO doctors who wanted to buy the offices! After negotiations each of them is going to buy one office and we are free and clear! All of this - from talk of maybe we should head home to we're moving Nov 17th - in less than a month!
We are VERY sad to being leaving the nice weather and the beach behind (and our family in northern Georgia!) but are excited to be back close to family and be some place that the church is not so small. It's an area of about 60,000 people and has 5 wards and 3 branchs...they'll be Mormons everywhere! Plus we'll be about an hour from Crater Lake, the Redwoods and tons of lakes that we can swim in without being attacked by gators! And the best part we won't have the everyday hassle of running the two offices and boy has it been a hassle the last 6 months or so with staff issues!

Oh my gosh! On the move and on selling the two offices! Here's hoping the house will do the same. So excited that it's working out for you!
Wow! I love it! I am so happy for you. It's so nice when things come together! How about the house? Will you try to sell it again? We wish you all the best! :)
We are so excited! Can't wait for you to be so close!
Hi, this is the Griffin family from Oregon. Jim was just asking me the other day, I wonder what Rick is up to? I told him that I would catch up on your blog-wow, moving back to Oregon! It sounds like everything is working out for the move to happen. Jim would love to catch up with Rick, his email is grifff6@hotmail.com. Your kids have grown so much! Good luck with the move!
