After school on Friday, the kids and I headed down to Sea World for the weekend...Rick chose to stay home and miss out on all the family fun, rather than pay $80 for a ticket to see Pavlov's Theory proven. He claims he took enough Psychology classes in college that he knows Pavlov's Theory works. What kind of Dad misses out of some family fun time??

The Marriott hotel that we booked advertised a shuttle to the park, however when we checked in they informed us that the shuttle didn't leave in the morning until 11 am and left to bring you back at 5:30 pm...the park hours where from 9-8 pm! So not wanting to miss a minute of fun we decided to walk the 2 blocks rather than take the shuttle.

The first thing did was head straight for the rides since we were there just as they were opening. I was shocked that Blake hopped on Kracken all by himself! With that said, he only rode it once and didn't ride the Manta roller coaster afterwards...in his defense I don't think ya could've paid me enough to get on the Manta! Ashlyn had fun cheering him on as he rode past though.

Next we headed to The Journey to Atlantis, which is similar to Splash Mountain. Ashlyn was thrilled she was tall enough...until we went down the big drop! We were on the front row and got SOAKED! She went ballistic and couldn't be calmed down and was screaming to get off...the ride had a couple of more drops to go! After we got off she called Rick hysterical saying how mad she was at me. So Blake was forced to go on it by himself afterwards and loved every minute of it!

We were able to convince her to ride the Shamu kiddie roller coaster though. At first she was pretty freaked out, but in the long run she rode it 5 times and admitted it was her favorite ride. They're in the 4th row in this shot...Ashlyn with a death grip and Blake with his hands in the air.

Then my favorite part of Sea World - all the shows! My favorite was the night show "Shamu Rocks" but none of the pictures turned out since it was dark. The kids had a great time singing and dancing to the music and watching Shamu do his thing. Blake insisted on sitting down in the front right in the middle of the Splash Zone every show...

...Ashlyn and I opted for front row of the "non-Splash Zone" seats and only got a little wet during one of the shows. Blake on the other hand got wet EVERY show and ended up bailing out and joining us during the "Shamu Rocks" show when Shamu jumped right in front of him and DRENCHED him, he looked like he just got out of the pool!

The Dolphin show was amazing! It still amazes me that they can water ski on those guys!

The kids' favorite show was the Pirate sea lion and walrus show, they laughed hysterically throughout the whole thing.

After multiple tries we FINALLY were able to get seats at the Sesame Street Halloween show.

Blake and I thought it was pretty lame but Ashyln got up and sang and danced along with them the entire time and was soooo cute!

Then we had the opportunity to feed seals and sea lions. Those guys were pretty rowdy and got right up in your face barking REALLY loud if ya weren't getting those fish to them fast enough. It kinda scared Ashlyn so she just tossed her fish instead of making them take it which lead to the birds swooping down and getting most of hers.

My favorite was feeding and petting the dolphins!

We see them in the wild all the time here in Georgia but getting them to eat out of our hands and sitting there while ya pet them was something else!

We also sat and played with and pet sting rays. Some of them were huge! They'd swim right up to ya and just sit there while we petted them. I've pet them many times at various aquariums but they were way slimier than I remember.

Then how random is this...a Sea World employee was walking around with a sloth wrapped around her. The kids thought it was great to play with but I'm still trying to figure out where it fit in?? Then of course there is all the random photo ops throughout the park. Ashlyn was the one that always noticed them first...

...eventually I had to tell her we had taken enough of the random photo op pictures and needed to keep focused on getting everything done or we weren't going to see/do everything we wanted to!

And yep, what better way to finish off a great trip than dropping by the World's Largest McDonald's. We've driven by it so many times that I couldn't pass it up knowing it would be our last chance to check it out before we move...think of what would happen if Ronald McDonald and Chuck E. Cheese had a kid and you'd have this place. It was nuts! The kids were mad that we just ate and hit the road since we were tired and still had to drive home.

Boy did we have a great time! Ya couldn't have asked for nicer weather since it's finally starting to cool off around here and the park was relatively slow so lines were short and we were able to get to all the show early enough to have our pick of seats each time. Ya sure missed out Dad!
