If Blake had to pick a favorite artist it would definitely be Darius Rucker. I liked him back in his Hootie and the Blowfish days in high school, but found it funny when he transformed into a Black Cowboy/Country Singer. Blake on the other hand always asks us to turn the radio up and belts out his songs whenever he's on the radio. We heard he was coming out to the island to perform one night during a PGA tournament and Blake begged to get tickets. Since it was with the tournament the concert was outdoors on the lawn, first come first serve. There were about 20 rows of VIP seats that could be reserved but in the regular section kids didn't need a ticket. Hmmm, free for Blake or $45 for him to go...so we just bought my regular admission ticket and got their early to put out our chairs. We ended up getting there just as the gates opened and got front row...of the "non-VIP" people.
After staking out our seats we went over to the beer gardens (the only place that was selling food) and got some dinner before the show. Unfortunately all the beer drinkers had all the tables and we had to picnic-style it.
He had a good time singing and clapping to the music...at one time he leaned over and told me to stop clapping cause I wasn't on the beat and it was embarrassing. In my defense I thought I was clapping with everybody else!
Even though it wasn't Hootie the man can sing...and he's not bad to look at either! All in all it was a fun evening for us to hang out together.

The clapping part makes me laugh. Maybe it is the McDowell side but I swear I always end up off beat. Levin loves Hootie so I bought him Darius's first cd and well . . he likes a couple of the songs, but it's not the same.
