Go BYST!

Today we headed up to Savannah for Blake's first swim meet. We were SHOCKED at the facility...16 lanes across, however they only used 8 of the lanes after their warm-ups. Here he is waiting patiently for his events behind the starting blocks...the same blocks his coach told him he couldn't dive off of for his races! His 1st event was the 50m freestyle. I couldn't help laugh at this picture of him diving at the start...check out his double jointed elbows. They make his arms look broken! And he's off!He was excited to see his name up on the reader board. A time of 1:07 for his first meet, good job buddy! Then he had some down time and got out his new Kindle to help pass the time.Blake's 2nd race was the 100m backstroke, one of the races that I swam in high school! Here he is pulling himself up onto the starting block. We had fun cheering him on...go Blake! As you can tell by the scoreboard, he got a little behind in his heat. We left before all the final times were posted so we're not sure how he did compared to the boys in all 5 heats of the backstroke and 8 of the freestyle. We don't swim on Sunday so he didn't participate in the 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke that his coach signed him up for. It's a bummer that they split it up between 2 days. We were proud of our little guy today and can't wait for next week. It stinks that were moving and he won't be able to continue with his coach and from what we can tell swim team is a summer sport rather than year round in Klamath Falls, darn it.
