If any of you know my husband, ya know that our life revolves around College Football and The Oregon Ducks. We've missed many social events because of it and even though I enjoy watching the games, it gets annoying that our world shuts down when they're playing. Rick came across this "addict's" story on one of the message boards this evening...
"I became a Duck fan in 1987 when my kids went off to UofO. We didn't get many of the games on TV so I'd sit in my car, the only place I could get reception, take a bowl of popcorn and a coke and honk the horn when the Ducks scored."
"Now I read everything I can, watch all the hype and then worry for a week. I hate the guys that pick the other teams and cheer the ones who love the Ducks."
"My friends know that any event on Saturday won't be attended by me. I did go to a wedding but it was after the game."
"Gameday is painful because I try to fill in the hours before the game. The kickoff is where I start getting nervous and it doesn't stop until the Ducks are at least three scores ahead. The game is over, the Ducks won again and I can breathe, then I can't wait until Sunday when the rankings come out."
"I tape every game and Sunday night I watch the game again. Then by about Tues I'm ready to watch the rerun again so I can focus on the defense."
"That's my week during football season. Did I mention that I'm a 64 year old Gramma, go figure. Duck fans are a varied and great group."
And I thought Rick was the one that could benefit from a 12-Step Program...
