Saturday we headed to the Jacksonville Zoo (or the
Kazoo as Ashlyn called it) for the first time. Ashlyn's never been to a zoo, Blake's been more times than we can count, but was too young to remember...ya almost would've thought it was Christmas with how excited they were!

The lions were one of my favorite exhibits. They were so pretty and were roaring REALLY loud as we came around the corner to see them, which made Ashlyn a little nervous. For some reason the female lion was being sneaky by hiding behind a fallen tree, then she'd crouch down and wait for the male to walk by and pounce on him. Then they'd roll around wrestling until he got tired of it and walked off...then she'd hide again and it would start all over. We found it pretty fun to watch.

It was feeding time for the giraffes. You could buy food for them and they'd eat out of your hands...the line was too long so we just watched as other got to feed them. Their REALLY long tongues were a little intimidating and I teased Ashlyn that they might eat her instead of the branches the kids were feeding them!

What better treat than yummy snow cones to finish off a fun day at the zoo! It was fun to walk around and see the animals that they did have, we're just use to MUCH bigger zoos with WAY more animals...the bright side, we did everything in just over 2 hours which made Dad a happy camper!
