For Memorial Day weekend we took off to Salem to visit Rick's family for a few days since we didn't have any baseball/softball games. Saturday was suppose to be a nice day so we went out to breakfast at the casino and headed over to Pacific City one of our most favorite places when we were in college. We couldn't have asked for a better day - it was sunny and 72 degrees!
Our most favorite part of this area is the HUGE sand dune to climb up...
Us adults are proud to say we made it to the top once and that was enough! But the views were definitely worth it...
And I couldn't pass up the chance to snap a picture at the top, much to Rick and the kids' dismay.
Then after it took a good half an hour for us to get up there, the best part is the run down the sand dune...
...which took only about 2 minutes. The kids had a BLAST!
So they kept climbing over and over as us adults enjoyed the nice weather from the bottom. Blake and Ashlyn went up 5 1/2 times but cousin Kayla had the record for the day - 8 times!
All the cousins had fun down by the water too. There are a couple of short little caves that we were able to see all kind of star fish, sea urchins and sea anemones in since it was low tide.
All kinds of fun tide pools.
And a few crazy people walked in the water along the shore line...talk about some freezing water!
One of the cousins showed Ashlyn that you can push on the sea urchins and it squirts at you. She squeezed TONS of them and every time it would make her scream when she got sprayed.
Boy do we sure miss living on the beach in Georgia, but even though it is a whole different world a nice sunny day on the Oregon Coast makes for one AWESOME day!
