It is pretty funny to watch our two kids grow up and how different they are. Ashlyn is by FAR the more naturally athletic of the two; where as Blake has to work REALLY hard and put in a LOT of extra hours outside of practice to get where he is at, loving every minute of it.
She is a good little hitter and has worked with Dad on the style of batting that Blake's coach insists the kids learn the first couple of weeks they are on the team.
When she was getting her uniform on for Monday night's game she was really paranoid, almost in tears, at the idea that she might have to play catcher that night in the game...guess who ended up playing catcher the whole time...
And she did a great job, admitting it wasn't as scary as she thought it would be. She can even squat down into position and move around in the gear way better than Blake can. She was pretty disgusted afterwards about how sweaty she got in the gear though, but said it was kinda fun.
She prefers to play 1st base though like Blake and Saturday's game was her chance. She got pretty frustrated with the coach's kid who was playing the pitcher's position and doesn't pay attention and can't throw worth beans...almost every time she threw it to Ashlyn to make the play she was too wild and over threw it so Ashlyn had to step off the base to make the catch, not getting there before the runner.
