We always love to hit the road on a 3 day weekend and get out of town, luckily I was feeling better this week and we were able to go Salem and have some fun. Boy was it nice to get out of the house!
It was raining pretty hard as we drove through Portland and guess what we saw by the temple? Two DOUBLE rainbows that stretched across the sky so you could see both ends, it was awesome!
The main thing we wanted to do was take the kids to Silver Creek Falls for some hiking. It was sooo pretty and the kids had a lot of fun seeing all the waterfalls, even if they were grouchy I was only able to do the 2.5 mile hike...I am still recovering from surgery, still not feeling great after round #1 of chemo and was in the surgeon's office this week with a blood clot in my neck...I probably shouldn't have hiked at all.
The trail goes behind two of the big waterfalls, which the kids thought was pretty cool. I have been hiking here multiple times and have never seen so much water coming down the falls...we got pretty wet going behind them, which made it more fun for the kids.

Blake decided to climb on some of the rocks under the falls, luckily he didn't slip and fall because it was pretty wet.

The rest of the weekend we just had fun relaxing and spending time with family. Uncle Steve even busted out the tether ball for us to play...oh the memories from grade school.
7-11 had 49 cent slurpees all weekend long...which meant everybody thought they needed one every day! Ashlyn finally broke down and tried one for the first time and loved it.
Since I didn't know I well I was going to be feeling we decided to stay at a hotel so I could sleep better and if I wasn't feeling up to hanging out I could stay behind and relax. I felt pretty good and didn't have to miss out on anything, but the benefit of the hotel was the kids got to go swimming a couple of times.
We hit the sweet Outlet Mall and found way too many good deals, ate breakfast at the tasty casino buffet, got to eat Uncle Steve's awesome ribs and even made it to Red Robin on our way home. Thanks guys, we had a blast!

I love Silver Creek Falls. So glad you felt well enough to enjoy it with the kids. Looks like you guys had a fun weekend. We missed you on our camping trip. We even had a shower for you.
