I was REALLY feeling cooped up today and needed to get out of the house, but still don't feel great so I knew we couldn't do much. A friend at work had told me about Harris Park about a 1/2 hour away that is along the Walla Walla River. So we decided to take a picnic lunch and let the kids play in the FREEZING cold water.
This tree was near our picnic spot, I still can't figure out how it grew this way, but jumped at the photo opportunity.
The scenery was beautiful up there! The smell and sounds REALLY gave me the camping itch...sooo not happening anytime soon since I still can't sleep in a bed comfortably.
It was pretty funny watching the kids wade into the water...they have never played in snow-melt off before and it was hilarious to see their reactions to it! They played in it forever though...pretty sure it was because their feet were numb so they didn't know any better.
They were having a BLAST...until Blake decided to walk upstream to get to an island. He got in water past his knees and lost one of his Crocs...talk about FREAKIN' out!!! I am sure the WHOLE park heard him shreaking about his shoe that was floating down the river.
Rick jumped in with his tennis shoes still on and barely missed grabbing them and even got back on the trail and ran down stream to the next clearing to see if he could grab them...no luck. It has been a LONG time since Blake has been so distraught! Worse than losing the shoe, he had to walk back along the sharp rocks to the beach where we were...he said that it was nothing compared to losing his shoe though and continued to bawl about it for about 15 minutes.

How fun! Does Blake need a new pair of crocs for his birthday?
I thought he would insist on ordering some as soon as we got home! He says nobody wears them here so he wants to look for something different...which is crazy cause he wore them all the time! We will see what he finds next time we are in Tri-Cities.
