Side Effects

So if my day at the Cancer Center wasn't enough, or the pump they sent home with me for 46 hour to continue to pour poison into my body...they sent me home with these prescriptions to take on a regular basis too!

The side effects from the chemo were way worse than I was anticipating.

- I came home from the hospital and ran my hands under cold water, forgetting that I would be sensitive, I felt like I had burned them badly until I dried them off and warmed them up.
- I can't touch anything that is colder/warmer than room temperature for the first week cause it feels like I have burned myself
- I can't eat/drink anything that isn't room temperature or it burns all the way down...I am getting tired of room temperature food/drink!
- I have always had problems with my hands/feet being cold...now with chemo that makes them tingly and if I can't warm them up quick enough my hands cramp really bad to the point they don't function properly...I was reading a book to a student and I couldn't make my hands turn the page, many times I haven't been able to hold a pen properly to write and once the motion of unbuttoning my pants sent my hands into a disfigured form for about 15 minutes that was awful!
- I sunburn very easily, so most summer activities will not be happening for the Harrison Family this year. My nurse said a guy forgot to put sunscreen on and went on a drive for the day...ended up with 3rd degree sunburn on the side of his body that was exposed while driving.
- I am always cold, so now that it is shorts weather I still wear pants and always have a sweatshirt too.
- The other day at work in was in the low 70's but there was a breeze that hurt my hands so bad I had to tuck them in the sleeves of my jacket.  The kids at school are weirded out with stuff like this.

So I have slowly realized what effects me and have learned how to deal with it, so hopefully all this gets better soon.  Man what I wouldn't give for a diet Coke right now!

Checking in to see how you are doing. It does seem you over did it going back to school so soon.those are a lot of meds to be taking. And you have to bring a pump home to do your chemo. Wow,that's crazy. I hope you vacation is going well.
