Last Rock-n-Rhythm Concert

Blake had his last concert tonight with his marimba group.  I am really sad about this, because their teacher was awesome and they sounded great!  Unfortunately with various things the kids had going on the last little bit they only had a chance to learn 3 songs to preform...so sad cause they were WAY better than the 6th grade and Jr. High band!

The first song they did I messed up and didn't have my camera turned onto video, so I just got a picture of Blake rocking out with his part...
The 2nd song was written by his teacher's son.  He is in the music composition program at UC Berkeley and has written a symphony and 4 movie scores.  They kids were excited when he wrote this for them and came in to help teach it the first week they were working on it.  Eelah Namaya was the name of the piece, an African hymn.
The last song they did was the song the kids were most excited about at the beginning of the year to play, but was a more difficult song and she wasn't sure they would have the skills to play it by the end of the year.  However, this group of kids all had music background before joining the group so it made her job of teaching a lot easier and the kids moved right along.  Axel F...
Blake had a lot of fun with this group this year!  It is made up of 5th and 6th graders who had to try out, so he would've had the opportunity to play again next year, but with them changing from a K-5 and middle school rather than K-6 school his teacher isn't sure she will be able to do it.  Sooo sad because they were REALLY fun to listen too.  She said out of all the years she has done it, these guys were by far the most talented group and fun to be with...even more so then the years her own kids were in the group!
