Today was the last day of Cub Scout Camp and the culminating event was an Egg Drop. The idea we came up with was to wrap the egg in play dough...
...and then place the boall of dough inside the bottom of a 2-liter bottle to help take some of the force of the landing.
Blake tested it by dropping it off our 2-story balcony...
...Ashlyn ran downstairs to examine the damage...
...it worked!! The egg was still in one piece!
However, our trial run was no where near the height they dropped them from today! Yep, the Fire Department came and dropped them all from the end of their ladder...Blake's landed and when it hit the ground the 2 pieces of play dough broke apart and the egg smashed...if we would've used 1 piece of dough I think it would've worked or had a lid of some sort so the dough didn't fall out. It was fun to see what ideas the other kids came up with...the most successful was an egg in a gallon size zip-lock baggie filled with air. It floated down REALLY slowly, who would've thought!

I remember Egg Drop!! That's cool that they still do it. I don't remember if they do it here or not, but it was such a big deal in Western Washington.
