Back to the Lava Beds

Now that the kids are out of school for the summer we can go and do some fun things on Rick's Mondays off.  First Monday...back to the Lava Beds for some more fun in the caves.  We went out a couple of weeks ago when some of Rick's family came to visit, but headed out to cross some more caves off the list yesterday.
The caves we toured yesterday were WAY longer and went WAY deeper than the ones we toured last time we were out there.  I don't know if there are safety in numbers and without Steve and Lisa's family we were only 4 people rather than 8, but Rick and I said we were both a little more nervous this time.  The kids said it was because we had less flashlights so it was darker.  Either way, it was pretty creepy!
This was the entry way to get into one of the caves...boy was it dark when we got down there since the opening was barely big enough for adults to climb down the ladder without scrapping their backs on the rocks or hitting their heads.
This was the Golden Dome cave...once you got way back down there, there was a HUGE opening that was dome shaped and it looked like it was covered in little specks of gold...this picture doesn't do it justice.
This cave had all kinds of bridges and walk way to cross in it.  I'm pretty sure it was the one that I got really far ahead on the way back out, hid behind a big rock, turned my flash light off and jumped out and scared the kids.  PRICELESS!!!  I don't know if Rick or I laughed the hardest, hilarious!
Instead of using some of the stairways, Blake decided he was going to try and "man up" and take the harder way.  I was surprised he was actually able to climb up it.  Our little guy is definitely growing up!
We had a blast again exploring out there and can't wait until we have time to go again.  Blake was sad that cousin Emily wasn't there to explore a little further in some of the caves when the ceiling got a little too low for Mom and Dad's liking...or when there were multiple pathways that he wanted to try out, but wasn't brave enough to try himself.

I guess Blake is better at climbing up things than down things. Devin asked if we were going to go hiking again when you guys are here:)
