I had my Post-Op appointment with my surgeon this morning. Everything is healing as expected, but she had the pathology report back so I didn't have to wait until Tuesday's appointment with my oncologist...thankfully, because Rick was with me at the appointment this morning, but wasn't going to be on Tuesday. Unfortunately, the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes...only 1 out of the 31 they removed during surgery but that means it was staged as a Stage 3A cancer and will require chemotherapy. I have an appointment Tuesday with the oncologist to make a game plan of what the chemo will entail and will have to have another surgery prior to starting the round of chemo in order to place the port-a-cath in my chest. However, my surgeon said today that it is a very easy out-patient procedure. Will keep everybody posted when I have more information.

I'm sorry to hear that. I can't believe that only something the size of a dime could already be in stage 3! At least with the port you won't have to get needled right? I know how you hate needles. Please keep us posted. I am glad that you are close to family now to help. You are tuff!
Unfortunately it still requires needles :( the port is under the skin so they have to use a needle to get the medicine to it. Way easier than putting it straight into a vein though, they say it burns pretty bad :(
Nicole I'm so sorry. We will be praying for you. Thanks for keeping us updated through the blog.
That stinks. Once you get the port in ask them for some numbing cream so you can put it on prior to treatment.when you start chemo. It will help a little. Keep us posted.
