Blake was drafted for the Majors this year...talk about one excited kid when he got "the call"! He is on Tom's Chevron, which is the coveted team to be on...we are known as "The Yankees" of the league and this is the coach's 15th season coaching the team. It has been quite the time commitment for Blake with 5:15-6:45 practice Monday through Friday, 2-3 games a week and arriving to games 90 minutes before hand for batting practice, but boy has he learned TONS so far.
Each game they announce the players one by one and they all run out to the field to line up...with a few chest bumps and a lot of fist pumps along the way. The boys really are a tight and supportive group, which makes it even more fun to watch them play.
We had 3 games this week..the first game we won 12-0 with the mercy rule. However, the next game we lost 0-13...but they had a radar gun to clock the pitches and their pitcher had it humming at 65-70mph every pitch. There was nothing we could do, even our best hitters struck out every time. And it didn't help they they hit 3 home runs off of us either.
This evening was game three. We were down 0-6 for most of the game brought it to 4-6 in the 5th inning. Then it was a CRAZY 6th inning when we brought our 9 year old out to pitch and he held them to 6 runs, then the bottom of the inning we hit a homer with 2 on base. Talk about a stressful 6th inning. This is going to be quite the experience for us this year, but hopefully a lot of fun filled with some great learning experiences for Blake.
