Today was opening day of baseball for Blake. He was sad that he has to play in the Minor league and most of his friends are playing in the Majors but had a fun 1st day.
His coaches worked with him quite a bit at practice with his batting stance this week and we think he FINALLY has got it. He always looked so awkward at the plate even though he was a decent hitter.
For their 1st game the coach moved the boys around to try out different positions, Blake got a chance at 1st base which is the position he's wanted to play EVERY year but has had to settle for 2nd base...
...and catcher. We were pretty nervous when we saw his strappin' on the gear! In 1st grade his coach had him try playing catcher but Blake wasn't coordinated enough to squat down and balance AND catch the ball all at the same time...gotta love the kid though for trying. However, this time around he did great and even made a great play at home plate for an out.
