We had a great time celebrating Independence Day this year with a bunch of families from the ward. Kids played outside (sweatin' like pigs) and the adults had a good time relaxing and visiting (within the comforts of A.C.) and eating TONS of really good food. Then it was time for the fireworks...one of our friends' mom was there and she made the observation that 4th of July is a man's holiday - grillin' and lightin' things on fire...boy was that the case this year! The dads really got into it - at one point I heard one of the younger kids complain that the dads weren't sharing! We had a HUGE box of fireworks that our neighbor gave us that was enough fire power to keep five dads busy for more than an hour.

Blake opted to hanging out with the cool big kids to watch the festivities.
Us ladies laughed at the guys, they'd light something, run away like crazy and then sit and "Ooo" and "ahhh" in amazement like little kids at whatever they had just shot into the sky....
....until the cops showed up just as they shot of a round of (illegal) fireworks - oops! We thought for sure we were busted, 5 minutes into our fun. However, the officer was cool and just told us to make sure we cleaned up after ourselves - right on!
