Today was Blake's Opening Day for his last year of Little League and he earned the honor of being the starting pitcher. He has put in COUNTLESS hours during the off season, definitely earning that privilege.
His coach only let him go 50 pitches in order for him to still be eligible to pitch in Wednesday's game. He pitched 2 1/3 innings and had 7 strike outs...meaning all the outs made in the game while he was pitching were from him striking batters out!
He went up to bat 3 times, got one double, got out at 1st on one and popped up to the 2nd baseman for the other at bat.
We were able to work through lots of first game jitters with our younger players and ended up winning 8-4. It was a great first game of the season! Such a fun time of year!
