Blake had a big basketball tournament this weekend that was a double elimination bracket. Since they had only won one game the entire season we all thought they'd go play two games and we'd be done...we lasted FIVE games! The boys were soooo excited but sooo tired by the end of the day!

Here they are getting a pep talk before the first game. I don't know what they said to the boys but they were on FIRE and played like we've never seen them play before! And Blake finally got the concept of being competitive! He was throwing elbows and taking balls to the ground causing a jumpball rather than letting another player take it from him.

He was on FIRE with rebounds and was even able to take lots of them down the court to take a shot. He was happy to report that game #3 he was the top scorer of the game and was up there for all of the other games.

Here's his foul shots from the last game. You could tell how nervous he was at the line and made one, but missed the other.

Game #2 was a loss after going back and forth the whole game. At the buzzer they made a shot and beat us. As soon as the time was out we noticed Blake was crying, coach and Rick went up to him and asked what was wrong - he said it was his fault they lost the game cause he was guarding the guy who scored at the buzzer. The problem was another kid wasn't guarding a guy so Blake was covering two players and when he left one they passed it to him and he scored. We tried explaining it to him and all the parents and players gave him a pat on the back telling him not to worry about it. But it was GREAT to see him THAT into the game that he was so upset, finally we have some competitiveness!!! And it was great to hear all the parents from our team yell at the coach to put Blake in and bench some other kids when the score was too close for comfort during some of the games. He did awesome with rebounds, shots, aggressiveness etc. Hopefully our boy keeps it up!
