Mystery ingredient #1, can you guess what it is?
Yep, BACON...in a CAKE! According to them you can add bacon to ANYTHING and it makes it more manly. We went to VooDoo Doughnuts this weekend in Euguene that has been on various shows on tv and tried their bacon maple bar. It sounds disgusting, but was actually tasty. So they decided to make a maple bacon cake for their contest.
The second mystery ingredient, PURE maple syrup costed $18 a bottle, holy cow! The cake turned out surprisingly well, but could've been a little sweeter. Instead of using the recipe for the cake part next time (IF there's a next time) Rick decided that a yellow cake mix would be better and then just add maple extract, bacon and then of course the YUMMY maple frosting. Here's their finished product....
...it's not the yummiest cake I could think of, but it's gonna be one of the most creative and according to them - "the manliest". And talk about a conversation piece!
