We attended one of the summer programs that the library offers this afternoon. An employee from the North Georgia Zoo brought a bunch of animals to show the kids. Unfortunately since there were over 100 kids that showed up (and a HUGE majority of them didn't know how to behave) he didn't let any of the kids come up and help or pet the animals.

The first animal he brought out a skunk...it was sooo cute and cuddly! Notice that she's brown and white striped? Apparently they come in a wide variety of blacks/greys/browns.

Next was a South American armadillo...we have plenty of armadillos wandering around here, so the kids weren't too excited by him.

Next was a Pixie Frog. The room got WAY too loud and it peed ALL OVER the place!

Next was a skink from The Solomon Islands. It was pretty cute for a lizard. Apparently their tail curls around tree limbs and they hang around like opossums do.

Then there was a baby African crocodile. He didn't stay out of his cage too long because it was too loud and he started thrashing around and was stronger than the biologist.

By far Blake and Ashlyn's favorite was the next animal, a Burmese python...snakes give me the creeps! If given the chance they would've let that thing crawl all over them though.

Next was a 3 month old lemur from Madagascar. The kids laughed that she was clinging to a stuffed animal, the biologist said that it was because they cling like that to their mothers all day and since it was on orphan they had to give it something to simulate them doing that in the wild. Her bright yellow eyes were so pretty and she kept watching him like a hawk.

Last was a 3 week old porcupine from some place in Africa. When she's full grown her quills will be 1 1/2 feet long and as wide as one of our fingers...watch out lions, you're gonna have to find something else to eat or you'll wish you had!

It was a lot of fun seeing all the animals so close up since we got front row seats, it's just to bad misbehaved children had to ruin some of the fun. At one point the man stopped the presentation and told parents the he was keeping all of his animals under control and he'd appreciate it if they would as well...to bad nobody got the hint.
