Blake is in full swing with another season of YMCA basketball. We were a little grouchy that they bunched all the 6-8th graders together in one league since there weren't enough of each to make enough teams. This means that Blake who is barely 11 1/2 is playing with kids up to 14 1/2! I say I was grouchy, but Rick was PISSED, ready to go and ask for our money back and not have Blake play. Blake on the other hand thought otherwise! And he/we are happy to report he is definitely holding his own and doing GREAT! It is pretty funny since he is use to being the tallest on the court...he looks sooo little next to the 14 year olds. Playing with the older kids is making him push his abilities and really improve his playing. It is also giving him the opportunity to play different positions where as any other time he has played his job is to sit by the basket and get rebounds because of his height.
(This picture is one of the shorter 8th graders...I really need to get a shot of him playing against some of the bigger/taller kids but he tries to stay clear of them on the court if at all possible!)
