While everybody was here I thought it might be fun to take the kids out berry picking. It wasn't anything new and exciting for Blake and Ashlyn, so they decided to stay home, but the little kids had a BLAST!
I was a little nervous that they would get poked with one of the thorns and be done but I didn't hear any of them complain about getting poked, they were troopers.
We gave them each their own little container and they were tickled pink.
My niece Mariah was pretty funny about the whole thing - she didn't eat her dinner before we went, but she sure made up for it while she was picking berries! She was pounding them! I have NEVER seen somebody pick berries sooo fast! When I saw what she was doing I couldn't help but laugh and take a picture...her comment to me - "I's starving Auntie 'Cole!" Needless to say she didn't have very many in her container when she was done....
...she was quite the mess! Not only were the kids GREAT pickers but they were great eaters too. We brought home our stash and every time we sat down to eat they all asked me to get the container out of the fridge and pounded them. I had a little left when they all went home today so I stashed them in the freezer to try a new recipe for blackberry pie bars...but I have to go picking again to have enough since they ate so many.
