Blake's Rock'n Rhythm group has had four different performances the last two weeks, talk about a crazy schedule with multiple basketball games thrown in the mix! Throughout the various performances I was only able to record two of their song and of course the recordings don't do it justice, we were in awe and what these kids put together in such a short period of time. This is from the 1st night's band/choir concert...
Then the tree lighting ceremony...
His school's Holiday Program was quite the production - there were all kinds of instruments, singing, skits, dancing, their own version of the STOMP group doing the Sleigh Bells song, and the list goes on and on. As Rick said, "It wasn't just a dumb program ya have to sit through because your kid was performing", it was VERY entertaining and had us on the edge of our seats and laughing the whole show. Oh and I forgot to mention one of the songs a group of kids came up front and did a boy/girl dance as they sang - Blake neglected to mention he was one of them and did a 50's style dance partnered up with the "cute girl" in his class...it was hilarious! He danced really well, but his face was bright red and he looked at the floor instead of her the WHOLE time! I wish I could have gotten a video of that because it was PRICELESS!!
And the closing song for all the classes, a beautiful rendition of Silent Night, Blake accompanied them for. Last minute they decided to have him play on a keyboard so they didn't have to move a piano into the auditorium...so not the same sound. He did AWESOME though!
And here are a few shots from the assembly today at mine and Ashlyn's school they performed at. Since I'm in kindergarten we got front row seats and sat about 5 feet from Blake playing.
The kids in my class were soooo excited to watch the kids play and get to meet Blake - they LOVE when Ashlyn is around and were curious about my "hijo" that I always talk about. The assembly was in the morning and ALL day I had them asking, why my son wears red glass and red Nikes - the things that sticks out to kids!
I'm really glad that Blake's music teacher forced him to try out for the group because he's having A LOT of fun with it!

How fun! Great job Blake. Nice to see that music is still valued in education.
Oh! Henry would LOVE that group! Music is not so highly regarded down here. I can't wait to head back west! Hopefully it won't be too late by then...
Tell Blake that Auntie Ann is amazed at his skills!! I played Marimba for 8 years! Travis like the drum set in the back!! Way to go!
I wish I was able to get a recording of the song that him and one other kid played with 3 mallets at one time! Asked his teacher about it and said she didn't know how they did it, just gave them the music and had them five it a try....Blake's response - Mom, it's not hard, just one more mallet for 1 of your hands, why ya gotta make a big deal out of it?" That kid cracks me up :)
Wow, that was amazing. Talk about a talented and dedicated teacher! The kids did an awesome job! We loved it!!!
