Countless Hours At the Ball Park

Everybody who knows us knows that our kids are WAY involved with softball/baseball, which means we are at the ball park anywhere from 3 hours a day EVERY weeknight and up to 8 hours a day on a Saturday/Sunday starting the beginning of March through the end of July.  Quite often they both have games/practice at the same time and Rick and I split up.  It is a HUGE time commitment but it is our favorite time of the year.
Ashlyn continues to love softball and is enjoying playing lots of 2nd base and short stop this year even though this is her first year at this level.
She has always been a great hitter, but has really got her swing down this year.
During tryouts the Walla Walla Community College softball players commented on it, totally making her day.
Blake is playing on 3 different teams this season, making baseball season even crazier than it usually is.  He just finished the season for Sager Middle School.
For his school team he pitched again and played 1st base.
He also has the privilege of playing on a top notch travel team in town that practices year round.  They started games during Spring Break, playing double headers each weekend until the end of May when tournaments start up.
We laugh that they have multiple options for their uniforms and that the coach texts them each week which combinations of hat/jersey/pants to wear.
He has played a great 1st base for the Black Sox!
By the time their double headers are over each weekend, he is wore out - 2 games of baseball with about 15 minutes between to scarf down lunch.
But he LOVES every minute of it and has gotten amazing coaching from a Washington State Hall of Fame coach which is priceless.

And if that wasn't enough baseball, he decided the night before tryouts to play Babe Ruth after all!
Last night was their first game.
This is his first year to play - his last will be the summer before his senior year of high school....talk about an age difference in the kids on his team!  It will be great for him to get to play 3 games a week throughout the season and even get to participate in a City Tournament at the end.
It sure makes for a CRAZY time of year, but we love hanging out and watching the kids play...even Cooper!
