Baseball Winding Down

It has been a long haul with Spring baseball starting in March, All-Stars starting the day after and then Fall Ball starting after about a month break...it seems like we have been eating/breathing/living baseball FOREVER!  It is a good thing Blake really enjoys it, because it is a HUGE time commitment with 2 hour practices every day and multiple games a week.
This season he really got a chance to work on his pitching.  He is happy to report that he pitched in every other game in the team's rotation!
When he wasn't pitching he played an awesome 1st base...I'd rather him be there than pitching, WAY less pressure!
And his coach was convinced that Blake could even learn to play catcher.  Which we laughed about because he is the tallest kid by a TON...we're talking the second tallest kid comes to his shoulders.  So it seemed silly to have Blake fold his long legs up to get down in the catcher's position, by his coach was determined to have him catch.  He even found a lefty catcher's mitt, which was Blake's last excuse why he couldn't do it.
Shockingly he did really well!  He has played catcher for past teams and it only takes the coach one try to realize that Blake wasn't meant to play that position.  He worked with him during practice and he has caught in the last three games after his turn to pitch is done.  It was fun to watch Blake this season and all the things he has improved on.  His last game is Wednesday and I will be THANKFUL for a little break before basketball starts up next month.
