Last week Blake had evaluations for this year's Park and Rec Department baseball season. He did awesome and was called by the County's Travel Team coach to join that team too! We jumped at the chance for him to join the travel team...it's really hard to get on since it's one team for the entire county for their age group. However, it means that we'll eat and breath baseball until this summer since he already committed to playing on the Rec team.

The one catch was that the Travel Team started practicing in January and had their first tournament this weekend - talk about jumping in last minute since we got the call Friday night! It was an eye opening experience - Blake is use to being one of the best on the Rec Department teams...

...he got stuck playing out field this weekend and is FAR from the best on the team. Talk about a hit to your pride! Boy was it a LONG day at the ball field. We had to be there at 8:15 for warmups and had a game at 9, 11, 2 and 4 o'clock. However, the later in the day they got the further off schedule they were...the last game didn't even start until 5:30.

Ashlyn sure was a trooper having to hang out ALL DAY at the ball park. We had a cold snap and it was only 40 degrees at the first pitch, but was in the 80's by the 3rd game. She spent her day working on her math books (she LOVES her Princess addition and subtraction workbook!), drawing, playing catch and reading.

Then his Rec team started practice on Monday night. His coach is hoping for him to play 1st base, but we'll see how it works out. On the bright side - I should have a rockin' tan from spending sooo much time at the ball field!

Yeah for Blake! It's tough to be so talented, huh? And kudos to Ashlyn. I know a few little kids who would not be so patient having to stay in one area for an entire day!
Congrats to Blake, but I'm rooting for Ashlyn! I was the sister of someone who played travel baseball...when they get older it starts encompassing all the surrounding states. You all are at the beginning of a great adventure! ;)
