Florida's Cold Springs

Blake is on Spring Break so we needed to get out a town for a few days...camping at Central Florida's many Cold Springs was our destination this time. For those of you back home it might seem a little weird to have cold springs rather than our hot springs, but since it's so hot here they are very refreshing! Year round the water is 72 degrees and crystal clear.
Here are the kids all tucked in their sleeping bags for the night, playing with their flashlights. The kids and I stopped along the boardwalk at Manatee Springs before they went swimming with Dad...it was a little TOO refreshing for me to get in this time!Exploring what's under the surface of the water...all kinds of fish, turtles and plant life. There were even underwater caves to explore for certified scuba divers. They pause to try and convince Momma that it wasn't too cold to get in...didn't work!Blake had a blast jumping off the docks at Rainbow Springs...over and over and over.Hiking the Swamp Trail at our campground along the Silver River. There were all kinds of signs warning us of black bears, but we weren't lucky enough to come across one. (There's never been an attack by one, so we thought that would be the safest possible encounter of a bear in the wild.)Check out the amazing scenery along our hike. Here's a scenery picture of Rainbow Springs...it was absolutely beautiful. We can't believe it took us this long to discover such a pretty part of Florida. It's definitely different than the beaches that we usually head to, but we had a great time and can't wait to check more of them out in the future.

How fun! I've got the camping itch but it surely isn't warm enough in Idaho to go camping yet.

I wish we'd known about that! Looks like a fun, relaxing time!
