Our "Little Drummer Boy" had his debute this evening - Blake's school had their Veteran's Day Music Concert. He has begged to play the drums for as long as I can remember - Dad says no, Mom says when you can take free lessons in Middle School. So you can imagine how trilled he was when his music teacher asked him to play the drum for their America March song in the concert. He came home as giddy as can be! Even though it was a small part, he was thrilled it was the one and only solo.
They had so many fun patriotic songs, our favorite being a melody with all the theme songs of the various branches of the military, while a slide show played of all the kids' relatives who are Veterans. I'm sad to say Lee Greenwood's, "I'm Proud to be an American" wasn't one of the songs though...that has to be one of the best songs. The whole evening was a great tribute to our soldiers and our country.
