Church Cancelled, Woo Hoo!

Being as church was cancelled today due to sewer problems, we decided to take a road trip for some good ol' family nature fun. Destination: General Coffee State Park.
This park was TONS of fun. At the beginning they had a family's 1800's homestead set up as a museum along with all the farm animals you would've seen. The kids had a great time petting the mules, goats, pigs, sheep and chasing the hens around the yard. Then we took the trail around the small lake, even though there were plenty of signs warning us about the gators, we didn't see any.
Then we were off to hike another trail, which a portion of was a 1/2 mile boardwalk across a swamp, again no gators. Our last stop was Gopher Loop - home to the endangered Gopher Tortoise and the Indigo Snake. We happy to report we did not come across any of the snakes, but about 100 yards into the hike we came across one of the tortoises!
Just as we came across it the Camp Hosts came up on their golf cart and show us how to catch it. The kids were suprised how heavy it was and how fast he ran. After its photo shoot he headed back to his burrow, which we followed him to and watched him dig in. Thanks Dad for finding us a cool place to check out today instead of getting cabin fever. What a great day!

Is that what they are calling Second Saturday these days, church canceled because of sewer problems? Or did you make that one up yourself? I still prefer to call it Second Saturday myself. Looks like you guys had fun. Don't you love day trips? They are the best.
