Last fall Blake and Rick set of goal of seeing the Cubs play in every single Major League ball park...it only counts if the Cubs are playing and they are both there. (They went to a Rockies game, but it didn't count because it was Rockies vs Dodgers...Rick attended a Cubs game in Houston against the Astros, but Blake wasn't there so again it didn't count.) They realize it is going to take a VERY long time to accomplish, but Rick said it will be fun for them to have a trip each summer together even after Blake moves out of the house and one day for Blake to bring his kid along for their trip later in life.
When we lived in Atlanta they attended MANY Cubs vs Braves games to cross their stadium off the list, but they are building a new stadium so they will have to go back. This month they went on a big trip to cross off 3 Major League parks. First stop...
...Cubs vs Brewers at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
Pretty sweet seats! They said it was absolutely brutal with the humidity sitting at an afternoon game. They were excited that there were more Cubs fans than Brewers fans at the game and to report the Cubbies won 6-5.
After the game they headed back down to Chicago and hit Giordano's Pizza for dinner...TASTY!! Day 2 was spent at 6 Flags.
Day 3 they finally made it To the Mecca of all Baseball...Wrigley Field!
They took the Wrigley tour in the morning and were excited to go down onto the field...
into the dugout....
...stand on the Cubs on deck circle...
...sit in the press box...
...but this was the best by far...
...they happened to be trimming the ivy on the outfield wall and the groundskeeper offered to them some. Their tour guide said that has never happened before! You can be arrested and escorted out of the stadium if you even touch it. Talk about 2 excited boys to be able to take a piece of Wrigley home! It survived the rest of their trip and the plan ride home but when we decided to sit in out in the sun it got pretty yucky so they threw it away.
That night they headed to U.S. Cellular Field at Comiskey Park, home of the Chicago White Sox. They had sweet seats for that game as well...
During batting practice Blake got a ball tossed to him by Mike Montgomery!
...but the boys were sad to report the Cubbies lost 0-3.
The last day they were there they did a little shopping, hung out at the pool and then it was time for the game at Wrigley!
View from their seats...
I got a text with this picture....
...saying "Blake is in heaven. Giordano's at Wrigley! Life literally can't get any better!"
The Cubs won that game 8-1, making it even better!
The boys had a GREAT time and were so excited to be able to hit 3 ball parks on one trip. Blake is chomping at the bit for next season's schedule to come out to plan next year's adventure.
