Winter Band Concert

Blake's band concert was two weeks ago, but I am slacking on the blogging lately.  He got a NASTY cold sore the week before the concert and their competition in Tri-Cities so he had to sit out during class and wasn't able to practice at home in order to give it time to heal...but he did great!  I love listening to the sound of the French horn.  I was lucky enough to substitute in his band class a few weeks prior to the concert so I got a preview of what they were working on.  At their competition they scored 1's in everything but one category except for one they got a 2+ in, 1 being the highest score.  Here are the 3 songs his group played.  Since there wasn't any pep band/jazz type music he played the French horn the whole time instead of switching to trumpet for some of the songs.
(Clink on the names of the songs for the YouTube video)

Since their concert they have started working on a Star Wars medley and a Harry Potter medley, I can't wait to here them!  He is excited for next year when they will finally have enough kids to have a high school band with middle school seperate - a lot of the kids in this group have only played for a year so it limits what they can do.
