Blake is required to participate in DI each year with his Hi-Cap class. He doesn't enjoy it as much as a lot of kids, but when it comes down to it he enjoys the social aspect of the competition. This year he competed in a musical building category - they had to build an instrument that would hold weight. They also had to write a skit to go with it and the instrument had to be played as part of the story line.
They came up with a Mexican wrestling theme for their skit and called themselves the Musical Luchadores. They were a family of champion wrestling kitty cats who's son decided he didn't want to follow in his father's footstep. They were hilarious! Unfortunately, they had issues with their instruments laying flat and balancing the weights so they were only able to put two weights on. Then they didn't work cooperatively on the instant challenge portion later in the day and even though they were in 2nd place after their skit, they didn't place in the tournament.
Blake learned a lot during the whole DI experience this year since he was their team leader and they were a group who had a hard time cooperating and getting along, so it was good for him...he won't be sad to not have to participate again though!
