Today was the kids' 1st day of school, so I guess we are officially settled in. It's also the first time they haven't been at the same school....I don't know who was more nervous about that - me or Ashlyn. It was always so nice for Blake to be there to help her find her classroom and just to run into him throughout the day in the hallway. (She LOVED the attention his friends gave her throughout the school year.) This school district has a school for K-3, 4-6 and then Jr. High and High School. They're in the process of building a new elementary school that Ashlyn will be able to attend and if they stay on building schedule, Blake's graduating class will be the first to attend/graduate from the new high school. We parked and walked Ashlyn in to make sure she found her way since her classroom is literally the furthest away from the front door as possible. Then it was off to Blake's school. He insisted on me just dropping him off, which I was fine with since he's so old and his classroom was easy to find, however when we pulled up he said he was too nervous and asked me to walk him in. "No way, Blake! You're way to old for your 'Mommy' to walk you to class! Do you want to get made fun of??" He chuckled and said I was probably right that he'd figure it out. Here's hoping for a great school year!
