We are back from our week of fun in the sun at Siesta Key, Florida, which has been on the Travel Channel's Best Beaches show multiple times. Rick's sister and niece flew in for the week and we decided to take them to the Gulf this time for a change.

We timed driving through Orlando at lunch time to introduce them to our favorite pizza place, Giordano's...yummy!

Then we headed over to where we had a condo right on the beach on Siesta Key. Here's the drive into the complex...beautiful.

We were surprised to be on the top floor (except for the penthouse) and that the condo had close to a panoramic view with all the windows. This is what we got to look at all week while we sat in the living room, cooked our meals or sat at the dinning room table to eat - breath taking.

Here are a few other shots of the condo...

Kristen and Danielle were nice and let us have a room to ourselves and they had one big slumber party with our kids in the other...

Since we had such a good view we opted to open the windows and watch the fireworks from the comfort of the condo.

It was one of the best shows I've seen, I kept telling the kids that it was the finale, but just like the Energizer Bunny - it kept going and going.

It was nice to be able to hop in the elevator for a quick ride down to be only 15-20 feet from the beach. However, our condo was in one of the towers and each floor only had 4 condos, so there were only 2 small elevators - which made for lots of cramming into elevators. Which lead to these guys showing up after I leaned against the WRONG button while in the elevator...

In case you can't tell, it's a fire truck...I didn't dare take a picture from too close up! Yep, I hit the fire button by accident, shutting down the elevators for the whole building and making a very attractive fireman climb 10 fights of stairs to "rescue us". I was shocked, they were there and up to us before Kristen and I even knew what was going on, talk about a good response time! (Rick was mad and took off down the stairs right away with the kids! He made sure to let everybody know that it was me who caused the whole ordeal...rude!) Oh, and we heard that a family got trapped in the other elevator...oops!

It was great to be able to have some much needed family time and be at such a pretty place. There aren't waves in the Gulf so we left the boogie boards behind, but had a great time swimming...

Playing in the sand...

Reading some good books...

Gettin' our tans on, or in Rick and Kristen's case - their burns on!

Hangin' out at the pool...

Being silly...

Enjoying pretty sunsets each evening...

Finding rainbows out our window after the big monsoon storm came in each afternoon......

Taking advantage of having a person to snap a picture with all of us in it...

and getting some cute ones of the kids too.
