Weekend Fun

Saturday morning we hopped in the car and headed for Hiawassee, GA up on the North Carolina border to do some hiking. We were unprepared for the 40 degree temperatures, but as soon as the hike began we warmed up REALLY fast...it was only a 6/10 mile hike but it was literally STRAIGHT up the mountain. It took us over an hour to get to the top, which is the highest point in Georgia. We were shocked that the kids made it all the way to the top! Ashlyn was a little nervous coming back down though. Then we headed to Helen GA, a cute little German town tucked in the mountains. Uncle Marvin insisted we couldn't pass a certain tourist attraction...
Yep, that says "Goats On the Roof"! The place was a souvenir shop comprised of multiple buildings with grass growing on the roofs for the goats who lived up there to eat! They had pellets you could buy and send up a contraption to feed the goats. This goat didn't wait for Blake to dump the food out for him, he met the bowl part way up for his snack. Then there were wooden bridges connecting the buildings together for the goats to use. I couldn't help standing under the bridge and saying, "Trip-trap, trip-trap...who's that crossing over my bridge!" when the goats walked over. Blake said it was a silly gimmick for them to get people to stop at their shop...but it worked!

That's so funny! I can honestly say I've never seen goats on a roof of anything, so you're one up on me. Glad you had a fun Thanksgiving weekend!
