And the Winner Is....Ashlyn!

Ashlyn had the oportunity to participate in a school coloring contest for Veterans Day, never having competed in anything she was VERY excited. The entire time she sat at the table coloring her picture of the American flag blowing in the wind, she told herself how well she was doing and how SHE was going to be the winner of the contest. Blake took it upon himself to explain how these things work and how it was VERY UNLIKELY that she would win since the contest was open to Pre-K through 1st grade students. She didn't let him discourage her...we got a letter home last week that she had one the Grand Prize and would be given her award on Veterans Day at the assembly. When I told her she won she was quick to tell Blake, "I told you so!" I happened to be subing Blake's class the day of the assembly, so I was able to see her recieve her award. I was shocked that she jumped right up and ran to the front when they called her name, it didn't bother her at all to be up front of 100's of kids, parents, teachers, community members and invited Veterans and service men...I was surprised!
She was very excited to go home with the basket that was too big to carry. In it she recieved bubbles, a few toys, books, playdough, MONEY and of course a new coloring book and crayons. Way to go Ashlyn!

*They didn't give her back the picture and I didn't take a picture of it before she turned it in...guess I was on Blake's side.

Where is a picture of her coloring job? Great job! That is a sweet basket of goodies. Don't let that brother of yours ever discourage you!
