Christmas Eve Festivities

We played a fun new game while we had all sorts of munchies to eat to start out the evening so we got a late start on the usual festivities which made for really late night!

We were excited to carry on the tradition of being the family that delivered the gifts to the families that my parent's Ward adopted...and are happy to report we didn't get caught like last time!  We even hid at 2 of the houses to listen to the different reactions when people answered their doors and saw all the gifts sitting on the porch.  It was a lot of fun to share this activity with our kids and see how excited they got about being sneaky.
Just like when Rick and I were both kids our kids get to open one gift on Christmas Eve and also like when we were kids it is ALWAYS new pajamas.  This year Ashlyn remembered from last year so it wasn't a surprise, but they were excited nonetheless.
Ashlyn got hot pink zebra feetsie ones and Blake got Chicago Cubs sleep shorts.
Then we were on to the Night Before Christmas Game.  Ashlyn was excited to be the one to read the story this year for the first time.  Gunner was ALL up in our business while we played sniffing all the presents as we passed them around.  Anytime one made any sort of shaking sound he was hilarious...and we quickly realized which ones were food when he began sniffing them like crazy.  We were laughing hysterically and had a blast egging him on!
Then we watched the new Christmas movie the Church put out followed by Grandpa reading us the Christmas Story from the scriptures.  It was about 11 o'clock before the kids headed to bed...just after we fell asleep Blake texted us to see if we were still awake cause he was having a hard time sleeping...it was 12:30 by then!  Guess he isn't getting too old for the excitement of Christmas Eve yet.
