After church today we made and decorated our Christmas cookies. At holiday time growing up we always made a ginger cut-out cookie instead of the normal sugar cookie. The first Christmas we were married I made them and Rick o-so-politely dubbed them the "dog barf cookies" because that's what he thinks they taste like. (I wonder how he'd be able to make that connection???) Anyways, they have molasses in them, which he hates, not that the cookies are gross. We've made them for generations in my family (it's my great-grandmother's recipe) and I'm not about to break traditions - so every year I make them and ever year he complains!

This is the first time Ashlyn's been old enough to help decorate cookies, or "paint cookies" as she called it. She did really well and didn't even make a mess.

Blake is very meticulous in his decorating efforts and creates a masterpiece with each cookie.

Eating one after all the hard work is definitely the best part!

Hi Nicole! I love how you leave comments on my blog so I thought I would return the favor! We are making our cookies this Thursday as Henry has an exchange on Friday. I am not that good at the whole baking thing so I'll have to be sure to have some store bought ones on hand, just in case! Your kids are darling!
I discovered that your husband is not the only one that thinks they taste like dog barf. Thank goodness we planned to give most of them away because there is no way I can eat a whole batch on my own. I guess I will have to wait until I have kids to enjoy them with me. Mom told me she was going to start looking for replacements for her son-in-laws:)
